A stolen Mitsubishi Express van that may have been used in a ram raid in Albury was set alight and exploded, knocking photos off walls of the adjacent retirement village and showering the community facility with pieces of metal.

One resident went to extinguish the fire with a garden hose but ran when he heard a hissing sound followed by the explosion. The bonnet of the vehicle flew 150M.
