More than 200 people recently attended Aura Holdings’ official launch of its much-anticipated retirement village to be built within the Indooroopilly Golf Course.

Somerset, only 7km from Brisbane’s CBD and named after the original homestead that was built around 1900 on a site now part of the golf course, will provide 168 two or three-bedroom apartments and four-bedroom penthouses set across four low-rise buildings.

Aura Holdings’ director Tim Russell said “It’s on a course and in a suburb that so many people know and love,’’ adding that the retirement village also appealed to non- golfers who were looking for a relaxed maintenance free lifestyle with views of the lake and rolling greens.

Village facilities include a pool and spa, gymnasium, wine room, library, private dining room, outdoor barbecue areas, with a hairdresser and consultation suites for allied health professionals plus golf storage and undercover parking spaces for 30 buggies.

Stage one construction on the Meiers Road site is due to begin in April, with completion expected in June 2021.
