In July 2014 village developer Geoff Hart emailed the 25 residents of his Wattle Grove retirement village in Cootamundra that his company Baragen was ceasing to trade despite the fact the village was only half built. In effect the strata owners were abandoned.

It has taken 18 months for the receivers to find a new owner in the form of Richard Blair from Sydney who will complete the construction of 34 units. He has two strata villages, in Dural and Penrith.

Over the 18 months the residents took on the overall management of the village.
