He has also been showing Asian businessmen around the once-prized Hyatt Sunshine Coast property.

The mining magnate and federal politician closed the Palmer Coolum Resort in March of this year after the property experienced a dramatic fall in patronage.

Palmer announced a major refurbishment but to this date, nothing has been done. The resort has 324 rooms, 150 hectares of bushland, a professional golf course, a tennis centre and a large number of dinosaurs (the last items were installed by Palmer).

The resort’s general manager, Simon Stodart, said there are still 40 staff employed at the resort and they are still planning the refurbishment.

To date, Sunshine Coast Council has not received any plans or information regarding any major redevelopment plans for the property.
