The aged care provider announced last month that it will transfer all 37 residents from Hazelwood House in Church Hill to Dalkeith Hostel – just 15 minutes away.

The relocation is part of Benetas’ five-year strategic plan to support all residents under its industry leading new model of care.

Before the Hazelwood House residents move in this November, Dalkeith will undergo an expansion and refurbishment featuring new apartments that create “a home-like environment” – where small groups of residents can utilise their own kitchen, lounge and dining room.

“Recent research released by Flinders University in South Australia showed the best approach to care is one where residents live in home-like environments and experience more flexible and personalised care,” said Paula Trood, General Manager of Residential Services, Quality and Compliance at Benetas.

“We are proud of our new approach to care and have received lots of positive feedback from families and residents currently living in this style of home.”

Once completed, the expanded Dalkeith facility will also feature a new café, sports bar, library, worship room and hairdresser.
