The Not for Profit, Vasey Communities, has received development approval for Kokoda Residences in Waitara.

To be built by Richard Crookes Constructions the 12-storey vertical village (pictured) will feature 117 apartments and include lifestyle features such as central gardens, bar, lounge, library and gym facilities, community spaces, consulting rooms, allied health services and retail and commercial services.

Located 18km northwest of the Sydney CBD Kokoda Residences is within easy access to major shopping centres, parks and public transport.

Vasey Communities’ Chairman Kate Gunton says they "are confident the development will allow them to return a vibrant senior’s community to Waitara.”

Originally established in 1959 to offer housing for war widows, Vasey has a long history of providing affordable accommodation and currently has four other retirement villages within the Sydney region.

A launch event for the village will be held in March, with construction to commence next month.
