Rosewood Aged Care is proposing to demolish its existing 60-year-old 52-bed nursing home on Cleaver Street, transforming it into a six-storey facility with 152 beds and a graduated two storey frontage.

The redevelopment would also see the Florence Hummerston Lodge, a heritage cottage at the 5454sqm property undergo a $500,000 restoration, plus a medical practice, a pharmacy and café built on the site.

The provider is also expanding its other facility at Leederville from 34 beds to 120 with the three-storey development.

Rosewood CEO Mario Zulberti says there is an acute need for aged care beds across Perth. WA currently has over 3,500 unused aged care bed licences according to ACSA.
