Making aged care “sexy” was the main priority for the head of the Illawarra-based provider when she took on the role a decade ago, according to The Illawarra Mercury.
Today, Ms Murray is regarded as a leader in the aged care sector, expanding IRT to Queensland and the ACT. The Not For Profit now has 26 communities with 2,300 staff providing care and housing for 9,000 residents.
They have also pioneered some of the industry’s most innovative programs and research, including their IRT Foundation promoting age-friendly communities. Murray says she is most proud of their Kemira village at Kanahooka which allows ageing people with intellectual disabilities to live with their carers.
