Home Instead Senior Care’s Gosford franchise has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Not For Profit service to provide meals and home care services to the NSW Central Coast’s seniors from February 2017, in time for CDC.
Combined they have over 900 clients between them and Ron Thomsen, Chair of Meals on Wheels Central Coast, says the partnership is entirely client-directed, adding to their service theme of “more than just a meal!”
Home Instead Senior Care employs 75 ‘CAREgivers’ and growing in the area while the Gosford Meals on Wheels has over 400 volunteers, offering both organisations a good base to market their services.
Meals on Wheels also aims to enhance people’s lives, rather than just deliver single services, a key drawcard for the new venture which hopes to have a major impact on the local aged care and disability sector as CDC rolls out.
Established in 1994 in the US, Home Instead Senior Care now has 1,000 offices in 17 countries, including 32 in Australia since 2005.
It’s an interesting concept. In effect you will have volunteers promoting a private home care service against local Not For Profit home care operators.
