In the clearest statement of support received to date, Sundale CEO and LASA Director, Glenn Bunney (pictured), has identified what he believes to be good about the budget for the aged care sector.

“The budget delivered both certainty for the current direction as well as hope for further consumer-focused improvement”.

“The evolution to consumers having direct control of funding for home care packages has been reinforced and the time frames brought forward”.

Placing the complaints process under the responsibility of the Aged Care Commissioner, rather than the Department of Social Services, he believes, reinforces the right of every Australian to quality care and the fundamental right to complain.

He also welcomed the removing of the monopoly of accreditation schemes from the DSS controlled Aged Care Quality Agency.

“These are indeed welcome changes” he concluded.
