John Matthies' the Australian Aged Care Group has announced a new 83 bed aged care development on the banks of the Yarra River at South Yarra. Called Alexandra Gardens, it will cost $100 million to develop.

Each bed will require $1.2 million in construction making it the most expensive care facility in the country.
The Department of Social Security has already approved RADs of $1.8M+. Individual apartments will range from 54 SQ M to 104 SQ M. It will be Australia’s first ‘all suite’ care facility.

It will feature a wine cellar, golf simulator, 40 person cinema, private dining rooms, gym and hairdresser. The group already has facilities in Kew and Phillip Island.
