About this Property

Baptcare - Strathalan Retirement Living

The Community

Nestled in Melbourne’s northeastern suburbs among a wealth of serene parklands and reserves, Strathalan is a community that’s perfectly poised to support your retirement, styled your way. As the starting point for Baptcare 80 years ago, Strathalan has grown from the original independent living units to include an apartment building in recent years and 32 new villas which were completed in 2024.

Take the time to explore winding trails of walking paths and bike tracks through pristine native bushlands. Or spend time immersed in a different type of green while working on your short game at any of the nearby Rosanna, Heidelberg, Yarra Valley, Strathalan and Bundoora Park golf courses.

Health, wellbeing, safety and support are all high on the agenda at Strathalan. In addition to luxury apartments and villas, an onsite wellness precinct offers convenient access to exercise classes, podiatrist’s services, and physiotherapy in a stunning heritage homestead. You’ll also find a state-of-the-art gym and yoga classes available in the main resident building. Strathalan is also co-located with Baptcare’s well-renowned and highly regarded residential aged care home. So you have the highest quality care right on your doorstep, both now and if your needs change in the future.

Baptcare

The Operator

From humble beginnings, the combined histories of BaptistCare (NSW, ACT, WA), Baptist Care SA, and Baptcare (VIC, TAS, SA) have shaped the organisation we are today.

As Baptist faith-based organisations, our mission has always been to strengthen communities by valuing people and helping them experience hope, dignity, and fullness of life.

In South Australia, support for people living on the streets was established in 1913 through the West End Baptist Church and West End City Mission, planting the seeds for the coming together of Baptist Care SA.

In NSW, pioneering Baptist volunteers established the Baptist Homes Trust in post-war 1944, driven to provide suitable accommodation and nursing care for older women.

Just one year later, in Victoria, a group of dedicated Baptist women raised funds to open Victoria’s first Baptist home for older people, leading to the foundation of Baptcare.

Meanwhile, on the West Coast, a kindred ministry emerged in the early 1970s, with the Baptist Homes Board established in WA to provide much-needed accommodation and nursing care for older people.

Now, as we come together under one organisation, we carry forward this rich heritage of care, compassion, and community. Together, we are building a stronger, more connected future. One that honours our past while embracing the opportunities of the future.
