Melva McDonald Lodge is located within Anglicare’s Rooty Hill Retirement Living Village. Since opening in 2019, Melva McDonald Lodge has been welcomed into the local community and is home to 90 residents. Incorporating innovative dementia design principles, it features pleasant outdoor spaces and is within walking distance of transport and shops.

Person-centred care is at the forefront of this home’s design with private en suite bathrooms, care within dedicated groups and dementia-friendly spaces. The innovative building design incorporates a ‘village-feel Main Street’, with shopfronts for services including a hairdresser and café.

Melva McDonald Lodge has a dedicated lifestyle team to provide regular activities for residents. This team also facilitates our Rhythm of Life® program, giving residents a choice in how they spend their day from meals to activities, outings and more.

• Potters Café: Located on the ground floor with direct access to outdoors.

• Activities room / Chapel: A large activities room and a dedicated space for chapel services are located next to each other on the ground floor, and can be combined for larger groups.

• Dining room: Each floor has its own dining room with accessible toilet nearby. Each wing has its own kitchenette for resident use.

• Lounge and sitting areas: Each level has two main living areas. Levels 1 and 2 have additional lounge and sitting areas.

• Outdoor areas: Secure garden area with walking paths and benches. Access to a children’s playground, community centre and onsite BBQ which is shared with retirement living residents.

• Hairdressing salon: Purpose-built salon on ground floor. Services include a fee.

• Wellness centre: The Physiotherapy room is located on the ground floor.
