Research by actuary and financial services company, Mercer, identifies that male State and Federal public servants have an average life expectancy of 88 while female bureaucrats can expect to live to 91 – an average of four years longer than the national average.

46% of new residents entering retirement villages are under the age of 75; public servants can be assured of a long village tenure.
