The Not for Profit has officially opened their new co-located site Uniting Amala Gordon which offers an 84 bed aged care residential home and 86 Independent Living retirement villas.

According to Peter Worland, Executive Director at Uniting, the development is a contemporary purpose built campus designed around the latest thinking in aged care, independent living accommodation and health and wellness for older people.

Many of the facilities which include, a Seniors Gym, a community centre and on site café and hairdressers are also open to members of the public. Physiotherapy and podiatry services will be provided on site as well as regular leisure and social activities.

Its residential home showcases the Household Model in which residents live as part of an active household of 18 to 20 occupants with their own kitchen, dining room, living room and are given more flexibility and choice around their activities of daily life such as meal and bedtimes.

This model has already been rolled out to six homes in NSW and ACT with all homes due to move to the model over the next two years.
