Residents of The Laurels Retirement Village are looking forward to getting close to a piece of racing history during the Melbourne Cup’s whirlwind tour of the Adelaide Hills on Wednesday 10th October which will also include Auchendarroch Lawns, Steriline racing and The Barker Hotel.

The Laurels’ Anna Zinenko said the village is honoured to be part of the event which is a great chance to get a taste of Melbourne Cup fever before the race “that stops the nation” and is encouraging everyone to share the experience and have their photo taken with the cup.

The Melbourne Cup Tour has visited Australia and New Zealand since 2003, giving communities the opportunity to view the $200,000, 18-carat-gold trophy.

The tour traditionally visits schools, hospitals, aged-care facilities and community events.

Members of the public and local media are welcome to attend the event at The Laurels, 2 Hutchinson Street, Mount Barker between 10:30am and 11:30am.
