Dr Senthil Govindasamy has lodged the application for two towers with independent living units for the elderly on a block of land next to his EBM Family Medical Practice in Mawson Lakes.

Favourably viewed by Council, the 75-metre building will be the tallest in Adelaide’s north with two 13- and 15-storey residential towers housing 150 apartments.

A lower podium level of six to seven storeys would feature retail shops, a two-storey medical centre, gym, swimming pool and function centre.

Dr Govindasamy told the Northern Messenger the $150 million development was inspired by similar senior community developments in Singapore and Melbourne.

“Rather than having big houses that make it very difficult to access services, what we are doing is putting senior living vertically ... with all these services here,” he said.
