Residents at Stockland’s Hillsview retirement village in Adelaide are training to complete the 6km walking distance of this year’s fun run on Sunday 16 September. Whilst two residents have competed the fun run previously the event will be a first for all residents during retirement.

Village residents formed a Heart Foundation Walking Group as part of Stockland’s partnership with the not-for-profit organisation walking the hilly neighbourhood weekly and trekking South Australia’s walking trails every second week as part of their training regime. Stockland provided the village bus for the walking tours and pedometers to assist the residents to track their progress.

Some residents in the village’s walking group clock up more than 10km per week during training according to 79-year-old Hillsview resident and registered City-Bay walker Marlene Ryan (pictured far left).
