Newling Gardens Retirement Village in Armidale NSW is inviting the public to a fundraiser for drought-affected farming families on Wednesday 15th August from 12pm to 2pm. Everyone is welcome to enjoy a free sausage sizzle, take part in the monster raffle, and help support everyday Australians.

Rural families are doing it tougher than ever with 100 per cent of the state now drought-affected and no end in sight.

According to Brian Bremner, chairman of Newling Gardens social committee, many of the village’s residents have rural backgrounds and this issue is close to their hearts, adding that many farmers are not only losing their stock but finding it hard to feed themselves.

Rotary International will match all donations up to $15,000 with Newling Gardens’ owner and operator, RetireAustralia, also donating $1000 to the appeal and many local businesses financially backing the event.

The National Farmers’ Federation, the Nine Network and Rotary have founded the 2018 Drought Relief Fund and Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced an additional $500 million in emergency funding for drought-stricken areas.
