Construction of a master planned multi-age community in the Liverpool region of southwest Sydney is now well underway, with the development’s long-awaited display village set to open in March to a list of pre-registered buyers - many of them being downsizing retirees.

Developers of the community Frazers Property Australia will be showcasing the majority of home designs for prospective buyers in the incoming display village in the form of a two-bedroom apartment, and one- to four-bedroom terrace homes.

The company, also behind the notable Central Park community at Chippendale, was awarded the tender for Edmondson Square by UrbanGrowth NSW in late 2015, after impressing with a leading proposal that came down to “amenity, affordability and connectivity”, according to development director Warwick Dowler.

Edmondson Square is well-positioned, as it sits upon a 24-hectare site next door to the existing Edmondson Park train station, and will also include a cinema, dining precinct, gym, and vast retail stores on the doorstep for future residents to enjoy.

Mr Warwick said there were more than 3000 registered buyers already on a database, and much of the interest is coming from retirees downsizing from family homes in the area.

“There are always people saying they want that mix of amenity there, because they haven’t got it, and they have to drive into Liverpool or Sydney CBD to get it,” he said.

“The development is indicative of the new Australian. Edmondson Square is responding to the evolutionary shift in the way Australians want to live”, said General Manager of NSW Residential Nigel Edgar.

The Liverpool region’s median house price is $793,000 while the median for units is $523,000 — more than the cheapest home available in Ed. Square.

The first release stage of Edmondson Square’s residences is set to roll out when the first group of homeowners move in during 2019, which will also mark the opening of a supermarket, fresh food store, cinema and several eateries.
