The $96 million site at Lalor, in the city’s north, will house 135 independent living units, plus a 120-bed aged care facility, community centre and wellness hub.

The region’s over-50 population is forecast to grow by 84 per cent over the next 20 years, something that appealed to the Not For Profit provider.

City of Whittlesea Mayor, Ricky Kirkham, who helped launch the project, said that it was great to see that Baptcare was investing in providing more housing choices for older residents.

“We are a fast-growing population and in areas like Lalor, our population is ageing. It is important that older people have access to a range of local options,” he said.
