It has also brought residents together, created new friendships and helped people better understand dementia.<\/p><h3><strong>Little events make a big difference<\/strong><\/h3><p>Throughout the year, residents and staff organised everything from dress-up days and high teas to raffles and fundraising activities, with Ryman also contributing to the total.<\/p><p>Ryman Healthcare Chief Executive Officer Naomi James praised everyone involved.<\/p><p>&#8220;Our residents and teams get behind causes that matter to them year after year, and the support for Dementia Australia has been outstanding,&#8221; she said.<\/p><p>&#8220;More than $130,000 is a fantastic result, and I&#8217;m incredibly proud of everyone who has contributed.&#8221;<\/p><h3><strong>Learning while helping others<\/strong><\/h3><p>The partnership also gave residents and their families opportunities to learn more about dementia through educational sessions, village visits and conversations with Dementia Australia representatives.<\/p><p>Dementia Australia Executive Director Services, Engagement &amp; Research Dr Kaele Stokes said the fundraising events had helped create new connections between residents.<\/p><p>Dementia Advocates and Dementia Australia staff shared their knowledge and experiences at high teas, fundraising events and informal learning sessions.<\/p><p>&#8220;We have also been touched by the generosity of residents across Ryman&#8217;s villages,&#8221; Dr Stokes said.<\/p><p>The money will help Dementia Australia continue providing information, education and support to people living with dementia, their families and carers.<\/p><h3><strong>A tradition of giving back<\/strong><\/h3><p>Ryman Healthcare has been running its charity partnership programme since 1999.<\/p><p>Each year, residents and team members help choose a charity to support, before organising fundraising activities throughout their villages.<\/p><p>Together, Ryman residents and staff have now helped raise more than $6.5 million for charities across Australia and New Zealand.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-3d323f6 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"3d323f6\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-92bb367\" data-id=\"92bb367\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c9a9baf elementor-button-success elementor-align-center elementor-widget elementor-widget-button\" data-id=\"c9a9baf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"button.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-button-wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<a class=\"elementor-button elementor-button-link elementor-size-sm\" href=\"https:\/\/thedcmgroup.createsend1.com\/t\/y-e-fhidktt-l-v\/\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-button-content-wrapper\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-button-text\">Return to Newsletter<\/span>\n\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It started with bake sales, movie nights, raffles and a few friendly quizzes.
