Nothing there &#8211; then the blisters,\u201d said Deborah.<\/p><p>\u201cI live a really active lifestyle, so it was confronting to need my husband and son to help me stand up due to the pain.\u201d<\/p><p>Shingles usually affects older people, and the risk of complications increases with age, particularly for people aged over 65, people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 and over and some people with weakened immune systems.<\/p><p>62% of people surveyed perceive the impact of this disease as \u201cextremely negative\u201d, while only 14% believe they are extremely likely to be personally at risk of shingles in their lifetime, according to research commissioned by <a href=\"https:\/\/au.gsk.com\/en-au\/home\/\">GSK Australia<\/a>.<\/p><p>In reality, about one in three people will develop shingles in their lifetime.
