{"id":2266,"date":"2023-09-22T00:22:45","date_gmt":"2023-09-22T00:22:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.villages.com.au\/?p=2266"},"modified":"2023-09-22T00:22:45","modified_gmt":"2023-09-22T00:22:45","slug":"people-have-multiple-retirement-concerns-according-to-amp-survey-of-over-50s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.villages.com.au\/lifestyle\/people-have-multiple-retirement-concerns-according-to-amp-survey-of-over-50s\/","title":{"rendered":"People have multiple retirement concerns, according to AMP survey of over 50s"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>New research by AMP shows that most older people find it challenging to navigate the retirement system and lack knowledge about fundamental aspects of managing their retirement finances.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>For people aged 50 and over the research found:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>3 in 4 find the retirement system complex;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 in 5 don\u2019t know if they\u2019ll be eligible for Age Pension benefits;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>7 in 10 don\u2019t know what an account-based pension is;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 in 4 have not sought financial advice for retirement planning;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 in 5 wish they\u2019d started planning for retirement earlier in life, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 in 5 are \u2018extremely concerned\u2019 about the rising cost of living<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis lack of financial knowledge about retirement is despite Australia having one of the world&#8217;s highest GDPs and the fifth largest pool of superannuation savings in the world,\u201d said their report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AMP and its North investment platform have now launched a Retire with Confidence Whitepaper, which takes a closer look at the growing maturity of Australia\u2019s superannuation system and the challenges faced by Australians heading into retirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>But the message: it is worth educating yourself on the options well before you plan to retire.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New research by AMP shows that most older people find it challenging to navigate the retirement system and lack knowledge about fundamental aspects of managing their retirement finances.
