{"id":2223,"date":"2023-08-24T01:52:32","date_gmt":"2023-08-24T01:52:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.villages.com.au\/?p=2223"},"modified":"2023-08-24T01:52:46","modified_gmt":"2023-08-24T01:52:46","slug":"more-taxpayer-funds-for-mens-sheds-with-10000-grants-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.villages.com.au\/retirement\/more-taxpayer-funds-for-mens-sheds-with-10000-grants-available\/","title":{"rendered":"More taxpayer funds for Men\u2019s Sheds with $10,000 grants available"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>131 Men\u2019s Sheds will share almost $670,000 in Australian Government funding to continue supporting the health and wellbeing of their community.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Up to $10,000 each will be awarded to help sheds with improving their facilities, buying tools and equipment, coordinating health-related training, and hosting events with a focus on men\u2019s health issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMen\u2019s Sheds are helping men and boys find mateship and social support to help them stay mentally and physically healthy,\u201d Minister for Health and Aged Care, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theweeklysource.com.au\/topic-aged-care\/mark-butler-retains-health-and-clare-oneil-moves-to-home-affairs-but-aged-care-still-in-outer-ministry-as-pm-albaneses-team-sworn-in\">Mark Butler<\/a>, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u00a0\u201cThese grants are going towards some fantastic projects that will enable Men\u2019s Sheds around the country continue to provide a supportive place where men can focus on their health and wellbeing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are approximately 1,300 Men\u2019s Sheds across Australia offering thousands of men of all ages a safe place to meet, socialise, connect, and engage in meaningful community work. Many retirement villages also offer Men\u2019s Sheds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Examples of grant recipients in this round include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mensshed.org\/sheds\/clermont-mens-shed-inc\/\">Claremont Men\u2019s Shed<\/a> (Qld) for a \u2018Jugs and Jocks\u2019 men\u2019s and community mental health initiative,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile.php?id=100067538976140\">Denman and District Men\u2019s Shed<\/a> (NSW) for a men\u2019s health muster, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.petermac.org\/patients-and-carers\/support-and-wellbeing\/support-services\/mens-shed-at-peter-mac\">Peter Mac Men\u2019s Shed<\/a> (Vic) for a Reel Recovery Fly Fishing Retreat for men with cancer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applications are currently open for the next round of grants of up to $10,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Further grants are also available to replace or install defibrillators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">See&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/mensshed.org\/nsdp\/supporting-docs-faqs\/\">NSDP Documents and FAQs &#8211; Australian Men&#8217;s Shed Association (mensshed.org)<\/a>&nbsp;for more information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>131 Men\u2019s Sheds will share almost $670,000 in Australian Government funding to continue supporting the health and wellbeing of their community.
