Minister for Ageing Mark Butler pays homage to outgoing Senior Australian of the Year.
The Minister for Mental Health and Ageing Mark Butler has praised outgoing Senior Australian of the Year, Maggie Beer for her contribution to the senior community.
The cook and restaurateur was acknowledged for her "untiring efforts to promote the important role that senior Australians play in society."
"Maggie used her role as Senior Australian of the Year 2010 to inspire older people to be active and healthy, and to encourage the aged care industry. She has undertaken this important role with the zeal and energy that we all know Maggie is renowned for," Mr Butler said.
"Maggie personifies the idea that no matter what age we find ourselves, it is always possible to give back to the community with vigour, passion and an untiring enthusiasm."
