Veteran Sydney property developer Sid Londish has presented his new development, Woodend Estate, on 12 hectares in Wooden (70 km north of Melbourne near Mt Macedon) - population 5,413.

Planned since 2005 he starts construction on stage one in the New Year with stage one including 48 three-bedroom units in the 2000sqm clubhouse costing $5 million. The end project will deliver 205 ILUs, 90 care apartments and a 10 bed specialist care facility.

The total project is valued at $130M.

This is not Londish’s first village attempt. He pushed hard to build 500 units across 20 three and four story buildings in Oxford Falls on Sydney’s Northern Beaches but gave up in 2011 after vociferous challenges over scale and fire hazards that reached the NSW Parliament.

He is renowned as the builder of Australia’s first shopping centre - in Sydney in 1960. He stated that the launch of Woodend Estate that “This is my legacy, this is my shining star. Changed aged care this country forever”.
