Coral Dyson has been sentenced to 5 years jail for stealing and is May 1 $.4 million over six years from the St John of God village and aged care facility at Wangaratta. She pleaded guilty to 7 counts of obtaining property by deception; she also repaid $100,000.

She first stole $122,693 in 2004/5 by taking cash and making electronic transfers to her accounts and credit cards from resident accommodation payments. Over six years she then stole amounts between $151,000 and $316,000.

The thefts were discovered when the bank rang the CEO seeking authorisation of a large transfer to Dyson’s own account. The court was told she initially took a small amount to help set her life of after a marriage breakdown. She was set a non-parole period of three years.
