The pioneer President of the Association of Residents of Queensland Retirement Villages (ARQRV), Phil Phillips, has passed away in hospital while on a routine visit. He was aged in his late 80s.

Phil was a driving force in building the ARQRV into the largest state resident association with 10,000+ members.

Phil put the Association on a financial footing which allowed it to then engage lawyers to present strong arguments in tribunals. He too had a formidable reputation for understanding the Act and its interpretation.

While he passed the presidency over to Les Armstrong eight years ago he was intimately involved in the ARQRV, fighting for residents up to the week of his passing.
