Residents at Tall Trees Tanah Merah have established their own book club in Logan in the midst of the ‘Books for Brains’ initiative being in full swing for October.

Neuroscience Research Australia initiative, ‘Books for Brains’, called on book clubs Australia-wide to read a book for brainpower this month.

Tall Trees Lifestyle Coordinator Kay Colenso says six of her residents recently established their very own book club at the Logan Library where residents will be having the book club meeting on the last Tuesday of each month.

“Our residents have the freedom and control to seek out the things that interest them, and instigating the idea of their own book club is proving to be a success,” Ms Colenso says.  “Their first book was Australian themed book; ‘The Secret River’ and we are now beginning our second book, ‘Dear Fatty’.

“Getting together and discussing the books is a new and fun way for the residents to interact, while they keep their mind strong and maintain their independence.”
