Wednesday we met with Scott Elliot, managing director of Walter Elliott Holdings and his youthful Palm Lakes CEO, Manuel Lang at their Southport HO. With 19 developments and 23 actual business units they demonstrate again there are some remarkable teams in the sector quietly achieving.

We worked out they are the only operator in the country with established businesses in manufactured home estates, retirement villages, supported care and residential aged care.

Commencing 35 years ago, founder Walter Elliott was one of the pioneers of the sophisticated lifestyle manufactured home resort. They now operate in QLD, NSW and VIC. Manuel Lang was recruited two years ago as CEO from National Australia Bank where he was an Associate Director specialising in property projects, with Palm Lake as a client.

Setting a cracking pace, they have six projects in development, all of them substantial. For instance at Bargara (Bundaberg) they are working on an extra 172 homes plus a 160 bed aged care facility, an 84 bed facility at Bethania (Brisbane) and 250 manufactured homes at Fern Bay (Newcastle) where 80 homes have been built and sold in six months.
