In conjunction with Jones Lang LaSalle, The RVA NZ collects information on 343 villages out of the 448 villages they have on record (a journey the Retirement Living Council is commencing here).

In 2013 those 343 villages grew to 351, translating into 8 new villages hitting the ground. In Australia we have just on 2,000 villages, six times as many, but we too commenced about six villages.

However in 2013 NZ delivered 2,333 new village units, 11% growth,  compared to approximately 1,000 in Australia (0.6% growth).

The average NZ village size is 68 units but this doesn’t reflect new village construction which is trending to 250 ILUs in size.

The average number of residents per unit in NZ villages is 1.3.
